As from 23rd July 2008 Nijhof Wassink starts in joint cooperation with PCC a new train shuttle service between Rotterdam and Kutno, Poland. The shuttle takes off from PCT Terminal in Rotterdam, the joint terminal of Nijhof Wassink, Den Hartogh and MCS, five times a week from Monday until Friday. Point of arrival is the Nijhof Wassink terminal in Kutno, west of Warsaw.
The new shuttle operates according to an AC-schedule, taking into account the standard time of departure being 20.00 o’clock, both from Rotterdam and Kutno. With one stop in Frankfurt/Oder the train will reach place of destination 48 hours after departure. Since a train is leaving almost every day, the goods will reach their destination quite as fast as a road truck. Furthermore we hope being allowed to make use of the “Betuwelijn”, conversations about that are kept going on. Basic volume is for the account of principal Sabic, who uses the polish Nijhof Wassink terminal as their hub for products that were manufactured in Saudi Arabia.
PCC Intermodal is responsible for the third party cargoes on this service. PCC Intermodal is the largest private independent intermodal service provider in Poland and operates via own terminals on major transportation corridors linking martime port terminals and industrial areas in Central and Southern Poland.
Junction
Kutno is an important junction within the polish railway network, since all east-west and north-south connections cross here. Therefore a fast connection is possible to the cities of Gdansk in the north or Brzeg Dolny and Slawkow in the south. Moreover Kutno is situated nearby cities like Wloclaweck and Plock, where a lot of petrochemical industry is present.
This new train shuttle between Rotterdam and Kutno is the next step in the presence of the Nijhof Wassink Group in Poland. The group has been active in Poland for eighteen years now. Not for nothing the company was distinguished with the Dutch-Polish Trade Award recently. This award was meant to put on the stage the success of Dutch entrepreneurs.
